Nero d’Avola Origins
Nero d’Avola originates from a small town called Avola on the island of Sicily in southern Italy. Nero d’Avola translates to “Black of the Avola” i.e. the Black grape of Avola, but since it is at home grown here in South Australia this medium bodied dry red wine is akin to warm climate pinot and it is right at home with our warm Australian climate.
